Rusty figures to be a contender this weekend as he brings PC-34 to Kansas...this was built this season and debuted in May at The Winston in sat on the pole for that event, but it's first points race came at Pocono in June...that is the only other time this Taurus has competed on the track...Rusty qualified and finished 16th in that Pocono race, but caught a bad break and lost a lap when the caution came out while pitting.

Martin has had a couple of on-track experience with this week's car, which is known as JR-92...the car hit the track for the first time here at Kansas during a two-day test last made it's NWC debut later that week at Darlington, but struggled...started 13th and finished 20th, one-lap down to winner Ward has done some aero work to the body since that race in hopes of improving.

Even though it's getting late in the season, it's not too late for brand new cars...that's what Wallace will have this weekend as he brings a brand new Taurus to Kansas City...the first on-track experience with this car came during Thursday's practice session.

Bodine was testing here at Kansas City when the World Trade Center and Pentagon were attacked...for the drive home he purchased pillows and blankets for his crew members to make things more comfortable...has the same car he used at the test session, which last ran at Bristol a few weeks ago...was involved in a number of incidents and finished 26th.

After taking a hard hit at Dover last week that resulted in an assortment of bumps and bruises and a chipped tooth, Mayfield will be back behind the wheel this weekend...has car #10, which he ran at Bristol a couple of weeks sat on the pole at Dover last September and led much of that race before engine failure ended his also finished 2nd at Homestead last season...this is the same car that finished 3rd at Bristol in the spring after starting also ran at Loudon and qualified 3rd, but finished 39th after hitting the wall.

The car Kenseth will drive this weekend was battered and bruised in its debut at Indianapolis a couple of months #18 was a brand new Taurus, but it suffered major damage on lap 2 when it got caught up in an has put on a new front and rear clip, among other things, and feels its ready for the weekend.

Elliott will be driving a Taurus that made its debut at The Winston a few months ago and finished's only other 2001 appearance came in August at Michigan, when he finished 30th...Sadler drove this car at both Darlington races in 2000, finishing 12th and 18th respectively.

Spencer will be driving one of the newer cars in the Travis Carter fleet...this Taurus debuted at the Brickyard 400 in August and promptly sat on the pole...Spencer eventually finished 13th in the race...this will be it's first appearance since that event.

This car has been strong the past couple of years, particularly at Michigan...Rudd has two outside poles and two second-place finishes at that track with this Taurus...dropped a cylinder, however, at Michigan in August and ended up has not raced since then...also has a 6th-place effort at California this year.

Craven will be driving a car that teammate Andy Houston originally had as part of his fleet early in the season...Houston raced this car at Richmond in the spring and, even though he qualified 34th with it, he ran well during the race...eventually got involved in an accident that led to an engine failure and 42nd-place finish...Craven drove it for the first time at Richmond last month and finished 11th.

Bodine has qualified in the top 10 a total of 11 times this season and has registered two poles...the car he will drive this weekend captured the pole at Pocono in July...finished 43rd, however, after suffering transmission made its 2001 debut in the first Pocono event and finished 25th.

Crew chief Ryan Pemberton said the team has brought car #16 to Kansas City this weekend...this piece made its debut at Indianapolis last month and finished 35th...only other on-track time came during the team's Indy test session.

The car was brand new for the Brickyard 400 last month, an event in which Jarrett qualified 6th and finished 11th...he also drove it at Darlington on Labor Day weekend and, despite leading three times for 53 laps, suffered mechanical problems and finished 34th...this will be the car's third career start.

This is a fairly new car for Stricklin, one that is still looking for its first race made its debut at Richmond last month, but did not make the field...the practice time Stricklin got at Richmond and here at Kansas City on Thursday is the only track time for this piece.

This will be the final race weekend for Houston in the 96 car as the team's season comes to a premature finish's somewhat ironic that the car Houston will drive in his final race for the team is the same one he made his debut in at Michigan last year...was running in the top 10 of that event until an engine problem dropped him back to 35th.

Busch tested here at Kansas City and was among the fastest in practice on Thursday...has the same car he drove at Dover in June, when he qualified 20th and finished involved in an accident and did not finish that event...debuted the car at his home track -- Las Vegas -- early in the season...qualified 9th and ran up front most of the day before finishing 11th.

Burton and his Citgo SUPERGARD team came here to Kansas City and tested a brand new car...they've brought that same piece here for race weekend and will debut it in Sunday's race...Burton has had good success in inaugural races, winning the first NWC race at Texas in 1997.

Newman already has one NWC pole on his resume this season (Charlotte) and will try to make it two as he brings one of Rusty Wallace's old cars to Kansas City...PC-22 will be making it's debut for the 02 team this weekend.
