Rusty's first win at Daytona has remained elusive, but he's obviously closing his last 6 DIS races he has started no worse than 12th and finished no worse than 11th...he has 3 top 5s and 5 top 10s in that period and owns an average starting spot of 7.3 and average finish of 6.5...has the same car he ran at Daytona (4th) and Talladega (41st/blown engine)...this also marks the 500th consecutive race for PR man Tom Roberts.


Martin hopes this year's Pepsi 400 will treat him better than one year ago when he cut a tire in Happy Hour and hit the wall...suffered a broken left wrist, one broken rib and broke the tibia plateau near his knee...still managed a 17th-place finish the next night...he will look for his first Daytona win this weekend with the same car he finished 5th with in the Daytona 500 and 6th with in the DieHard 500 at Talladega.


Compton debuted this car at the season-opening Daytona 500 and finished 26th after starting 33rd...also competed at Talladega and finished 33rd after being involved in a multi-car accident. 11 BRETT BODINE

Bodine and his team have struggled this season on restrictor-plate tracks...did not qualify for either the Daytona 500 or DieHard 500...this will be Mike Hillman's third week at the helm as crew chief.


Mayfield had his usual solid run in the Daytona 500, finishing 11th, and will have the same car this week that he had back also ran at Talladega and sat on the pole...was in position to win the race late, but was hung out and ended up 14th.


Gordon said after his season-best 9th-place finish last week at Sears Point that he would not "take a sword to a gunfight" for this weekend's Pepsi tested their car in the wind tunnel on Monday and feel satisfied it can be competitive...same car Gordon drove at the Daytona 500 and finished will carry a special paint scheme with characters from the new 'Rocky and Bullwinkle' movie...


Lepage did not qualify for the last restrictor-plate race at Talladega...he hopes to get back on track with a brand new car this tested this piece at Talladega with Matt Kenseth prior to the Sears Point.


Kenseth has never raced at night on a speedway of this size...surprised many with an impressive 10th-place run in the season-opening Daytona 500...comes into this race with a brand new Taurus that he tested at Talladega last Wednesday (6/21)...leads Dale Earnhardt, Jr. by 11 points in the rookie battle.


This will mark the first race for the newly-formed Wood Brothers-Roush Racing alliance, which was announced at Pocono two weeks ago...the car Sadler will drive this weekend was completely built by Roush Racing...Greg Biffle tested this car at Talladega in place of Sadler, who was recovering from injuries suffered in a practice crash at Michigan...Sadler did not qualify for the last restrictor-plate race at Talladega and started 40th for the Daytona 500...Sadler's car has the same paint scheme that won the 1963 Daytona 500 with Tiny Lund. 26 JIMMY SPENCER

Spencer recorded his best finish of the season at Talladega (5th) and will run the same car as that race this weekend did not run in the Daytona of Spencer's two NWC victories came here in this race in '94 when he edged Ernie Irvan at the finish line.


This car was inserted into the restrictor-plate fleet after Rudd flipped on his hood during the Bud was built over the winter and will make its debut this weekend in race trim...Rudd has been on a roll of late, posting five top 5 finishes in the last 7 races.


Pruett has been steady on the restrictor-plate tracks of Daytona and Talladega this year...started 15th and finished 19th in the Daytona 500 and then qualified 15th and finished 20th at Talladega...has the same car he ran in both of those events this weekend.


This will be Waltrip's final trip to Daytona as a competitor and he'll try to qualify with a brand new race car...this will mark the first time it has ever been on track...DW has one win at Daytona in his storied career with that being the '89 Daytona 500.


Dallenbach struggled in the Daytona 500 as he fought handling problems throughout the race and posted a DNF (40th place)...coming back with the same car, however, which has gone through extensive wind tunnel tests since also had a two-day test session here at Daytona with this car and feel they've made progress. 77 ROBERT PRESSLEY

Pressley has been solid in the last two oval-track races, finishing 5th at Michigan and 11th at Pocono...has the same chassis he ran at Daytona and Talladega, but a new body has been put on in the hopes of gaining ground...Pressley was 20th in the 500 and 23rd at Talladega. 88 DALE JARRETT

Jarrett will look to join Cale Yarborough as the only drivers to win three straight NWC races at Daytona International Speedway...he won last year's Pepsi 400 in dramatic fashion as he took the final caution laps on the apron of the race track due to low fuel...then won the Daytona 500 in February for the third time in his career...since that car is in Daytona USA, team came back to DIS two weeks ago and tested a brand new car that will debut this weekend.


After sitting out last week's road course race at Sears Point, Berrier is back behind the wheel...will have the same car he drove to a 37th-place finish in the Daytona 500 and to a 28th-place showing at Talladega... team has also put on a new body for this event.


In the Daytona 500 Elliott drove a car the team named "Mac Daddy", this weekend he has a brand new car that has been dubbed "Mac Momma" ...finished 3rd in the Daytona 500 and 15th at Talladega in the first two restrictor-plate races.


Roush Racing announced on Wednesday that this will be Little's final season as driver of the No. 97 John Deere Ford...he will look to finish the season strong with the same car he finished 25th with at Talladega back in April...the car was new for that event. 99 JEFF BURTON

Burton has been a contender in both restrictor-plate races this season ...finished 2nd to Dale Jarrett in the Daytona 500 and then was in the lead pack at Talladega down the stretch before finishing 12th...Burton will have the same car he drove in both of those events.
