KASEY KAHNE QUOTES
"We had a great car at Daytona, but that doesn't translate into success at California. We've worked hard on our speedway program in the off-season and the test at Las Vegas indicates we've made progress. We expect our No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger to be competitive on the speedways this year. I really enjoy racing on tracks like California where you can run high or low. Actually, there are several grooves. As the track changes during the race, you have multiple opportunities to move around searching for a quicker way around the track."
"The communication with Kenny (Francis, the team director) and his crew was outstanding at Daytona. The Evernham engines are stronger, more powerful. We've made good progress with the Dodge Charger. The issues this weekend won't be bump drafting or drafting partners. It's all about balance and handling. We expect the off-season effort to be evident with all three Evernham Motorsports teams this weekend."
KASEY KAHNE AT CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY
This weekend's race will mark Kahne's fifth career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start at California Speedway. Prior to this weekend's race, Kahne has a total of one pole and one top-five finish.
Kahne's career-best start came in May 2004, when he won the pole award, and his career-best finish at California Speedway came in September 2004, when he ended the race in second position.
In last year's spring event at California Speedway, Kahne started 17th and finished 40 after getting caught up in an accident. In his last race at the track (September 2005), Kahne started seventh and finished sixth.
