"I wanted to be in the top-20," stated Labonte, who won the pole position at the 2-mile oval in 2001. "But, I'm happy with that lap and how much we improved the car. This is a brand-new car and we had some good long runs in practice to prepare for the race, but we didn't find much speed. So, I'm really happy with how much we were able to improve the car for qualifying. The guys did a good job with the car."

Kyle Petty and the No. 45 Wells Fargo Dodge team will start tomorrow's race from the 38th position, qualifying their way into the field as a 'go or go home' entrant (outside of the top-35 in points).

"We weren't too fast in practice, and not being locked-in to the field puts a lot of pressure on everyone: me and the team," said Petty."It's like two races in one weekend: one just to get into the race, then the race itself. We were able to pick up almost a half-second on our qualifying lap and got ourselves into the main event Sunday evening."
