KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 GM GOODWRENCH MONTE CARLO SS - Qualified 15th

"It was a good run. We picked up a half a second from practice, so we're pretty happy with that regardless of where it winds up. So it was a good lap for us and we'll go from there. We ran some race runs and got a good baseline to start with, so it should be good when we go to race trim and practice in the afternoon and race at night."

JOE NEMECHECK, NO. 01 U.S. ARMY MONTE CARLO SS - Qualified 13th

IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRACK HAS GOTTEN HOTTER, HOW DID YOU FIND MORE SPEED? "That's a good question. I think that's all I had right there in qualifying. I got in the corner right and picked up the throttle right and used every part of the track. That's all I had for this time of the day. I've got to thank Ryan Pemberton and this whole U.S. Army crew. We're definitely on the road to recovery. We had kind of a slump in mid-season and we got our cars a lot better. The guys at the shop are building good cars and the Hendrick engines are good. Everything is coming together and we're getting them to drive and that's kind of where we've struggled at the middle of the year. Sluggler Labbe is over there and hopefully he's going to start setting things up and getting our program rolling. I'm looking forward to the race. We unloaded good. We've been practicing good. We were right there in the top three. Hopefully we can keep it there and it'll be a good starting spot for us."

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE'S MONTE CARLO SS - Qualified 16th

"I'm really happy with the car. That was a very comfortable good lap. But I don't think we're going to quite have the qualifying effort that we wanted, but the car is driving really good and I think we'll have something for them on Sunday."

KYLE BUSCH, NO. 5 KELLOGG'S MONTE CARLO SS - Qualified 10th

"I didn't have any idea this car could go this fast. This is a great lap for the Kellogg's Chevrolet guys and all the work they put into this thing. It is definitely a testimony to our California Speedway package. We are awfully strong out here for whatever the reason, The car drove great, we were just a tick tight off the corners, but I was able to get back in the gas and do what I needed to do to have a good lap in qualifying."

DALE EARNHARDT, JR, NO. 8 BUDWEISER MONTE CARLO SS. - Qualified 6th

"It that was a great lap for us. We haven't been that good in practice here today and we were really looking for a great confidence booster for this Budweiser Chevrolet team. This is really going to be good for us for the rest of the weekend."

JEFF BURTON, NO. 31 CINGULAR WIRELESS MONTE CARLO SS - Qualified 7th

"The car was a lot better than I was. I just left a lot on the table in turns one and two then tried to get it back in three and four and drove to hard. I didn't drive hard enough at one end and drove two hard on the other end. I was just out of my rhythm for some reason, but still a good run for the Cingular Wireless Chevrolet. These guys do a great job building me race cars and I just let them down today.

BRIAN VICKERS, NO. 25 GMAC MONTE CARLO SS- Qualified 2nd

"We had a good car in practice. It is hard to adjust the car trying to guess what the pace will be in qualifying especially with the sun going down. You just aren't sure how much it will pick up. We were a little tight both ends and the middle and that hurt us a little but still a good lap for our Garnier Monte Carlo. It is a good starting for us."

J.J. YELEY, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES MONTE CARLO SS - Qualified 19th

"It was a pretty decent lap. It was faster than we ran earlier in practice. I'm sure the race track has picked up some grip. It's a little bit cooler now than it was. The car was just a little bit too loose to really go out there, be aggressive and try to make a pole-type of run. I knew coming down for the green flag that the car got loose coming off turn four. It was just too free to really push it. This car here is a new car. It's phenomenal in the wind tunnel and there's no need to beat it up or crash it in qualifying. So, I think that that lap will probably hold on for a top-15 starting position. We'll go out there Sunday, I know it's going to be a very long race. We're going to go from day to night, so the first half of the race is really going to be a throw-away. We just want to make sure that we keep tuning on the race car. Keep the set-up as close to the changes that the race track is going to need and have something good for the end of the race."
