"I'm OK, but it was just driver error. We had been trying to free my car up all day and I got a little free in and I just got in the corner a little hard. The back end just started to come out and I didn't have enough talent to catch it, so it was just a mistake on my part. I was just trying to get to the end, so that's unfortunate. I hate it for the guys. We just couldn't find it all day."
ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus (Finished 23rd)
"It was a pretty bad day for this Pedigree Ford. We were decent in practice overf the weekend, but we got together yesterday and decided to make some major changes. It's a brand new car and it just didn't work out the way we wanted it to. The car was tight and then it just got real loose. We made some big changes on pit stops, but it just didn't work out."
KURT BUSCH - No. 97 Rubbermaid Taurus (Finished 1st)
VICTORY LANE INTERVIEW - WHAT ABOUT THE PASS FOR THE LEAD? "It was a great car today. This Ford was awesome with the way we were able to maintain. We'd come into the pits and my crew got me back out. We just pieced ourselves into a position where we could pass Rusty on that one restart. Then we got by the 42 and got by the 18. I mean, it was just an awesome show. We had to strategize a little bit as far as how we were gonna get by the guys and it worked out in our favor - sticking to the bottom."
WERE YOU SURPRISED TO STRETCH IT OUT LIKE THAT AT THE END? "I didn't even look up, I just laid it down and went. These boys deserve to pull ahead and win a race like that."
MARK MARTIN - No. 6 Viagra Taurus (Finished 17th)
"We were coming off of four and I think the 48 got crowded up against the wall and had to back out of it. We were all so close together that I got into the back of him there and we lost it. But I think he got up against the wall before I got into him and he had to get out of the gas or something."
MATT KENSETH - No. 17 DEWALT Power Tools Taurus (Finished 9th)
"I don't know, it was frustrating. We struggled all day. We didn't have very good pit stops and we didn't have a good car on short runs. We didn't get the circumstances that we needed. If we would have had a 40-lap green to the end, I think we could have run in the top five, but we just had short runs. It's just tough. I tried getting by those guys, but I just couldn't get it done - it was just too short of a run for us."
BUT YOU WERE GOOD EARLY. "Yeah, the long runs at the beginning of the race were good for us. I think we drove up to third and did pretty good there, but we didn't get the long runs we needed at the end. My car would change. Everytime we'd pit, it would change a little bit for some reason. We just never could get it. It was real hard to drive in traffic. It was real loose in the beginning of a run and had to wait until I got halfway through a tire run and then we were decent."
JEFF BURTON - No. 99 CITGO Taurus (Finished 19th)
"We had a fifth to a 10th-place car depending on where we were. We pitted and the jack fell, which got us a lap down. We weren't as good as the leaders and we could never get our lap back."
YOU WERE STRONG EARLY ON. "We just could never seem to make the car better. We had some little problems there, but we never seemed to make the car better. What killed was in the pits. The people who finished ninth and 10th and 11th, we ran in front of them all day, but it will come."
ROBERT "BOOTIE" BARKER, Crew Chief - No. 77 Jasper Engines Taurus (Blaney finished 13th)
"That wasn't bad. This car is just real finicky - tight, loose, tight, loose. I took two tires and the car didn't like it at all, and then we almost got in a wreck so I'm happy with 13th. To get out of here with that, we did OK. I thought that two-tire call might play into our favor, but it just didn't do well for our car. It didn't really make any difference, though, so it was worth a try."
GREG BIFFLE - No. 16 Grainger Taurus (Finished 18th)
YOUR RACE TURNED ON THE SPIN. "Yeah, I was trying to pass Spencer. I was working on my car and it was getting better and better, but I just got the left side tires down on the apron and spun. That lost us a lot of track position. I couldn't quite get the balance I wanted until about halfway through the run. I was too free at the beginning. One time I went tight right away and then free and then tight right away. There at the end it was pretty good, so I'm not sure what we did wrong. It was a decent day for the Grainger car. We'll just move on to next week and then Charlotte and keep learning every week."
RICKY RUDD - No. 21 Motorcraft Taurus (Finished 24th)
"We were way off on the first pit stop, but they changed the car so drastically overnight. That first run we were terrible and got ourselves in a hole. It seemed to be real inconsistent. We'd make a little adjustment and, all of a sudden, we'd go way overboard. The car would go from being severe push to severe loose. We were just off. These guys tried awful hard all day to try to adjust us into the race. I guess we were only a lap down, so at least it didn't turn out any worse. We'll just keep our chins up and keep digging. Eventually, it will happen."
