FIRST-EVER "M&M's" RACING TEAM RETAIL STORE OPENS ON TOP OF "M&M's" WORLD IN LAS VEGAS

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (March 5, 1999) - Keeping with the spirit of fun, excitement and entertainment in the city of Las Vegas, "M&M's" World transforms a section of the fourth floor into the world's first "M&M's" Racing Team retail store. To coincide with the Las Vegas 400, the newest addition to the four-story retail and entertainment complex includes an authentic No. 36 "M&M's" Racing Pontiac. The "M&M's" Brand is the title sponsor of the No. 36 race car for the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup Series, driven by Ernie Irvan. The familiar and popular "M&M's" Characters have dedicated a portion of the fourth floor to the "M&M's" Racing Team in anticipation of entertaining all their NASCAR fans. On permanent display is the colorful "M&M's" race car along with Irvan's driving uniform and helmet. Exclusive "M&M's" racing merchandise is available on the racing floor, along with ice cream and baked desserts made with "M&M's" available at Red's Pit Stop Cafe. To celebrate the opening of the "M&M's" Racing Team retail store, "M&M's" race car driver Ernie Irvan will be on hand to sign autographs/merchandise for the general public on Friday, March 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. "M&M's consumers are huge NASCAR fans," said Pat D'Amato, M&M/MARS Spokesperson. "M&M's" World is the only retail store featuring unique M&M's merchandise and products, so it seems appropriate to showcase our association with NASCAR since it is the fastest growing spectator sport in the country." "M&M's" chose to place the prized possession, the No. 36 race car, on the fourth floor of this one-of-a-kind facility, and it took some fancy maneuvering to get it positioned. Since the elevator within the four-story entertainment complex did not accommodate the race car, the full-scale race car was delivered in pieces and rolled onto the fourth floor where it was assembled. Since the NASCAR Winston Cup race last visited Las Vegas, "M&M's" Worlda has added two new attractions. In addition to having the fourth floor dedicated to the "M&M's" Chocolate Candies Brand NASCAR sponsorship, there is the "M&M's" Academy. The "M&M's" Academy gives visitors a chance to discover how an "M&M's" Chocolate Candies earns its trademark 'M' as they take part in an interactive, self-guided tour of the third floor of "M&M's" World. The Academy allows everyone a fun and colorful entertainment experience with the "M&M's" Characters. Even with the addition of the No. 36 Pontiac to the fourth floor, it is not the first time the "M&M's" Racing Team has lit up the Las Vegas track. The car sported a similar bright and colorful paint scheme at the inaugural Winston Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. As the "M&M's" Racing Team is proudly represented at the top of "M&M's" World, they are looking for even more. In addition to earning an 'M' at the Academy, they are looking to earn a 'W' - a win in the Las Vegas 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race. "M&M's" World is located at 3785 Las Vegas Boulevard South at the Showcase Mall, near the MGM Grand Hotel. Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. PST Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. PST Friday and Saturday. "M&M's" is a registered trademark of Mars, Incorporated. M&M/MARS, a division of Mars, Incorporated, manufactures and distributes a variety of high-quality snackfood products.
