Charlotte, N.C. -- A fast new friend on the No. 36 Pontiac may prove to be the key to winning at Daytona International Speedway for the "M&M's"® Racing Team. Crispy the latest addition to the cast of "M&M's"® Characters finds a home on the rear quarter panel of the No. 36 Pontiac for the Pepsi 400. The special paint scheme promotes "M&M's"® Crispy Chocolate Candies, the newest member to the "M&M's"® brand, which debuted in January of this year. The "M&M's"® Crispy Character has developed quite a following in six months on the celebrity candy circuit. Convinced he is a marked man, Crispy is constantly looking for ways to stay one step ahead of hungry consumers. To help him out, Ernie Irvan, driver of the "M&M's"® Pontiac, has opted to take Crispy for a ride. "We've had the "M&M's"® Yellow, Red and Blue Characters on the car all year, and now we've added Crispy on the car for Daytona," Irvan said. "He's in for quite a ride, too. If he wanted to pick up some speed to get away from all the hungry fans, then he should be happy at the race track. The "M&M's"® Team will do everything we can to help him out." In addition to Crispy's appearance on the No. 36 "M&M's"® Pontiac, he will also be seen up close by many fans. Consumers at Daytona USA will receive a free pack of "M&M's"® Crispy Chocolate Candies on Friday, July 2, 1999. "M&M's"® Crispy Character specially designed 3-D glasses will be given out to over 50,000 consumers prior to the start of the Pepsi 400. Consumers can see Crispy though the glasses as the fireworks light up the sky.
