Ernie Irvan's Darlington Raceway Highlights... The 'Candy Man' had his best performance in three years last fall at Darlington. Irvan started the No. 36 Pontiac from the 26th position and went on to finish sixth for the day. Irvan's sixth-place finish was one of seven top 10s at the track.

Ernie Irvan and the "M&M's"® Racing Team continue to build on their early season success. They picked up their second straight top-10 finish last weekend in Atlanta. The team's seventh-place effort came just one week after the No. 36 Pontiac captured a sixth-place performance at Las Vegas.

In a somewhat bittersweet statistic, Irvan is tied for first in the Exide Batteries All Charged Up Award standings. The award is presented to the driver who improves the most positions during an event. Irvan, driver of the No. 36 "M&M's"® Pontiac, received the award following the Las Vegas 400 where he went from 40th to sixth in the running order. Irvan has been on the move from the back to the front all season, improving 17 positions at Daytona and 14 at Atlanta.

Irvan will be signing copies of his new book, "Ernie Irvan, the NASCAR Driver's Story of Tragedy and Triumph, No Fear," on Thursday, March 18, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Books A Million on West Palmetto in Florence, S.C.

Ernie Irvan's thoughts on racing at Darlington Raceway... "I never describe Darlington as unique, because the word unique usually means there is something different about it. It has its name, 'too tough to tame,' for a reason. Darlington is a tough, tough race track. There is no way to really describe how 'bad' Darlington Raceway is. That doesn't mean it is bad in a negative note, it is just very tough to be able to run 400 miles there and not slap the fence. We get fatigued there, not just physically, but mentally as well."
