Earnhardt Jr. wins for the second time in 2014

The No. 2 Team Penske Ford of Brad Keselowski dominated the Pocono 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., on Sunday.

However, when Keselowski ran high in an attempt to use the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet of Danica Patrick to get debris off his grille with five laps to go, Dale Earnhardt Jr. roared by in his No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. Keselowski tries desperately to hunt him back down but his efforts were in vain, with Earnhardt claiming his second win of the 2014 season and the first of his career at Pocono.

This is also the first time Dale Earnhardt Jr. has won multiple races in a single season since 2004.

"We both had real competitive cars. It feels good to run well," Earnhardt said. "I just love winning with these guys. Wins aren't really anything unless you can enjoy them with good people."

Earnhardt revealed that he was surprised to see Keselowski chase Danica up the track to try to get the debris off his grille with so few laps remaining.

"It was a really, really good day for us, a lot better than I thought it was going to be," Larson, who dominated and won the ARCA Racing Series race at Pocono on Saturday, said.

For a significant chunk of the race, the Stewart-Haas Racing trio of Stewart (No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet), the No. 4 Chevrolet of Kevin Harvick, and Kurt Busch ran 1-2-3.

Just before a caution for fluid on the track, Harvick had to make an unscheduled pit stop for a cut tire and during the caution, Stewart was caught speeding on pit road. After Stewart moved to the back of the field where he found teammate Harvick, Keselowski took control.

With everyone near the front having made their final pit stops just before or during the sixth caution of the race with just over 20 laps to go, Keselowski and Earnhardt restarted in first and second. When the race returned to green, Logano dropped off the pace and went to the garage after losing all oil pressure.

"Never had one do that under caution before," Logano said. "All of a sudden it started sounding weird and lost power."

The No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet of Jimmie Johnson finished sixth, the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Ryan Newman was seventh, Gordon eighth, the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet of Martin Truex Jr. ninth and the No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet of Jamie McMurray finished 10th.

With his top-10 finish, Gordon took the championship points lead bacj from Matt Kenseth, who finished 25th in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota after he sustained front end damage early in the race.

The 400 mile event was slowed by seven cautions with the final being the biggest. Kasey Kahne attempted to pass Kyle Busch but instead of gaining a position, he was pushed up and into the wall. Carl Edwards ran into the back of him as Kahne slammed the wall a second time in the following corner with no brakes. He was infuriated with Kyle Busch after the accident and declined an interview request from TNT.

NASCAR's Sprint Cup drivers now head to Michigan International Speedway for the 15th race of the 2014 season.
