Dale Jr. Quotes
"The whole team and I have fond memories of this place because we got to celebrate both of our Busch Series championships there, but our memories of last season (the team's only Winston Cup start there) aren't so great. We had a fast car, but it was so hard to pass or advance that we just rode around much of the day and tried not to be bored. This season is a much different story: at nearly every track where we were not quite competitive last year, we've been much better. We tested for two days, and I think that should help us a lot."

When Kenny Wallace drove the Dale Earnhardt Inc./Pennzoil car to the Bud Pole position last Friday at Rockingham, NC, he became the 18th different Bud Pole winner of the season, which is a record number in the modern era of NASCAR Winston Cup racing. Wallace becomes the 22nd driver to become eligible to compete in the season-opening Budweiser Shootout at Daytona that will take place next February. All 2001 Bud Pole winners and past winners of the Budweiser Shootout are eligible for the race, which will be the first race for the new aerodynamic rules being formulated for Daytona and Talladega.
