TALLADEGA, Alabama (October 16, 2000) -- Elliott Sadler and the CITGO Racing Team started 25th and finished 17th in Sunday's race at Talladega Superspeedway.

After starting in the middle of the 43-car field, Sadler advanced into the top-10 by lap 3. He ran inside of the top-10 on the final restart but was shuffled out of the draft on the final lap.

Elliott: "We ran good all day. I was running fifth going into turn three on the last lap and then ended up 17th. I just got caught on the outside and didn't have anywhere to go. Everyone did a great job today in the draft. We were all concerned about running that close together for 500 miles but we did it with very few altercations.

"When I get some more experience in the draft and more people to work with I'll be okay. We just had an awesome racecar all day. It ran good at the bottom, top, or in the middle. This was a great day for the CITGO team because I gained some valuable experience in the draft and I know I'll be better at the season opener as a result of our efforts this weekend."

Len Wood: "Elliott did a great job for us. We've been struggling a little bit with our restrictor plate package over the past couple of years. We didn't make the last race at Talladega so Elliott hasn't been given the best opportunities to learn how to make the car work in the draft. We've run the same car at the last two restrictor plate races and we have an 18th and 17th place finish. The body and chassis were provided to us by Roush. They will provide all of our bodies and chassis for 2001 so this is a sign of good things to come."

Elliott Sadler and the CITGO Ford next head to Rockingham, North Carolina. The Pop Secret 400 will be televised live nationally by TNN and broadcast on live radio by the Motor Racing Network. The start of Sunday's race is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, October 22, 2000.
