CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 9, 2000) - Elliott Sadler and the Wood Brothers Racing Team started 23rd and finished 16th in Sunday's race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Quoting Elliott: "The car was awesome today. It's the best handling car I've ever driven at Charlotte but I guess we chose the wrong gear. Today was not what we had hoped for because we knew we had a great car going into the race. I thought we had a shot at a top-5 but at least we finished in one piece. When we don't have any unexpected trouble during the race our results are usually good.

"There were a lot of big wrecks today and we managed to miss all of them. I am looking forward to racing this car again before the season is over. I know this car is capable of running in the front and I'm sure we will run this car at the season finale in Atlanta."

Elliott Sadler and the CITGO Ford next head to Talladega, Alabama. The Winston 500 will be televised live nationally by ESPN and broadcast on live radio by the Motor Racing Network. The start of Sunday's race is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, October 15, 2000.

Notes of Interest:

- Elliott Sadler failed to qualify for the race at Talladega in April.

- Elliott Sadler will sport the final paint scheme of the Wood Brothers 50 Years in Racing this weekend at Talladega. The Wood Brothers CITGO Ford will have the same paint scheme Neil Bonnett raced when he piloted the Wood Brothers Ford Thunderbird in 1989.
