TONY STEWART, NO. 20 THE HOME DEPOT CHEVROLET (Finished 2nd)

ON TRYING TO CATCH MARK MARTIN:

"Our car really liked to be up front in clean air. Mark's a hungry guy. He wants to get that first championship under his belt. He wouldn't have let that one get away from him today."

ON RACING DALE EARNHARDT JR. FOR SECOND:

"The fun thing about that is you can run that close like we did. You trust Junior. You have a lot of faith and trust in the guy. Him and I are good buddies. I know he wouldn't do anything to put us any comprising positions. He raced us hard but he raced us clean. It made it fun at the end."

ON DESCRIBING THE LAST 80 LAPS:

"A circus. It's a joke I thought."

ON THE OIL:

"He asked if I'd seen anything and the answer is no.

DO YOU FEEL LUCKY TO MAKE IT TO THE END?

"I feel pretty lucky to get in here with second with the way this day ended up."

WHAT HAPPENED ON PIT ROAD?

"I just missed pit road. I locked up the front wheels and followed the path of where I locked it up. We've got the commitment line with those cones and I couldn't go around those cones and come on in. We've got to be inside those cones. I just missed it getting in and that was it. It was just a mistake on my part trying to not to give anything up getting into pit lane."

DID THE MISTAKE ON PIT ROAD COST YOU THE RACE?

"It's possible. The hindsight is always twenty-twenty. Who knows with the accident that happened where we would have been in that pack. Things happen for reasons. We ended up second and we're leaving here with our heads high."
