SCOTT RIGGS (No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger) -- 2nd

"We knew we had a pretty good car in practice. We thought we needed to make a couple of changes and pick up a tenth or two to have a shot at the pole. The guys did a good job of making adjustments. I didn't think it was going to hold up for the pole. I knew the track had a lot of grip, and I knew there were still some heavy hitters in the back. Jeff and Jimmie and even Tony I was worried about there. You never know what these guys can pull out. Jeff was able to do it. I'm proud of all the guys. They did a good job. I made a mistake there and missed a shift coming through the gears, so we'll probably have to change engines anyway. Starting second would sound good to us, but we'll get a good pit selection and we'll have to work our way from the back to the front now.

"I over revved the engine pretty high. The way we have to run our engines to get the most horsepower we can out of them, they have pretty tight tolerances. If you do over rev the engine you virtually have to make the change. We feel like we have to. There's no sense going out there for tomorrow's practice and missing the entire practice because we find out then after the engine lets go. I had a little bit of a vibration the second lap and that's when I knew pretty much we did hurt the engine a little bit there. It was my fault. That was me not paying attention enough to make sure we get through the gears smooth. I was concentrating on making my lap instead of thinking about getting up to speed first. That's just the mistake I made. I was pretty aggressive the engine lap, especially after thinking about how I just damaged the engine before that. I don't think I had anything else in our car today."

IMMEDIATELY AFTER QUALIFYING LAP

"I don't know if that's going to hold up for us or not, but it'll give us a good starting spot if it doesn't. These guys have done a good job today and we were really bad here the first race. We did a lot of homework and a lot of hard work to make sure we had a better car this time. So far, so good. When the car is right here, it's fun. It wasn't a lot of fun the first time this year. It'll be a lot better this time. It was a good lap. I don't know if anybody can beat it."
