Menard Turns in another Solid Performance at Dover

DOVER, DE (September 22, 2008) -- In keeping his streak of top-25 finishes at Dover International Speedway alive, Menard turned in a 21st place finish in the Camping World RV 400. This is Menard's third consecutive top-25 finish at the Monster Mile and his second 21st place finish in a row, following last week's run at New Hampshire International Speedway.

"Dover is definitely a challenging track, but we always seem to come away with a decent finish here, which is all you can hope for," Menard explained. "Doug (Randolph) made some great calls in the pits and we were able to stay on the lead lap for most of the race, which in itself is an accomplishment at Dover."

Menard's day got off to an exciting start as he rolled off 34th before being involved in a second lap crash with Kurt Busch. While Menard escaped without damage after taking a spin off the corner, Randolph called him down pit road for four fresh tires.

On lap 120, Menard went one lap down to leader Matt Kenseth, while running in the 24th position. His lap down status wouldn't last for long as a few great calls in the pits allowed Menard to get the Lucky Dog free pass on lap 171.

Menard continued to battle for ground on the racetrack, succumbing to the leader once again on lap 295. Despite being a lap down, Menard was solidly running in the 21st position.

"It just takes too long for the car to get going," Menard radioed the crew on a restart. "Then when it does and the tires get sticky, the right rear just goes away."

Menard's 21st place finish dropped in one spot to 28th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver's standings.
