J.J. YELEY, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES MONTE CARLO - Crashed during his qualifying attempts and will go to a backup car:
WHAT HAPPENED? "Oh, I just really wish I knew what happened to the Interstate Batteries Chevrolet. It was really awesome in practice. It felt pretty solid there coming up to get the green. And just as I came off of Turn 1, the car got loose really early in the entry there and caught me by surprise. I tried to save it, but didn't unfortunately. A very good race car is wrecked but hopefully the back-up is just as good."
YOU ARE OKAY? "Yeah, I'm fine."
JOE NEMECHECK, NO. 01 U.S. ARMY MONTE CARLO SS
"The U.S. Army Chevrolet team, we're getting our program back together. It seems like we lost the handle on the cars there for a while at the beginning of the year and now we're getting it back. It's a shame, for about the last six, seven or eight weeks our cars have been good; driving very well but we don't have any finishes to show for it. It just seems like anything that can happen to us does happen to us and gets us behind. It's pretty frustrating but, the potential, the team is there. The cars are driving very good right now and we've just got to finish some races."
JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DUPONT MONTE CARLO SS: WAS IT A YEAR AGO IN PHOENIX THAT YOU WERE ON THE POLE? IT'S BEEN A WHILE: "Yeah, it has. We've been searching for one all year long. That's a great lap, I don't know if it's going to hold up. I'm just so proud of the DuPont Chevrolet crew right now. They're just doing an awesome job for us. We got this Chase started off right with a good finish and a good qualifying effort last week. And no matter where we end up, this is a great way to get this weekend started."
