CARL EDWARDS -- No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion
HOW IS YOUR CAR THIS WEEKEND? "The Office Depot Fusion is pretty good. It ran really well in race trim -- that's what I'm really excited about, it was pretty fast in race trim. We made what I thought was a pretty fast qualifying lap."
EVERYBODY IN THE CHASE SEEMED TO RUN WELL LAST WEEK AT NEW HAMPSHIRE. IS THAT AN INDICATION OF HOW GOOD YOU HAVE TO BE EVERY WEEK? "I hope for our sake the next nine races there aren't seven Chase guys in the top seven, because that's going to make it an extremely difficult championship to win. But, it very well could go that way. We ran 12th, it was a championship effort for us, because of the back-up car situation, but to realize, hey, we lost how many points, 25 points or whatever, running 12th and all those guys ran that well, I hope it's not like that every week."
HOW DO YOU LIKE THIS TRACK? "This track is great. I'd take this one for 10 races straight in the Chase. I really like racing here. We've run really well here before -- the last two races we ran second and third. So I think for us this is a great race track to come to for points."
YOU ALSO HAVE A TEAMMATE IN THE CHASE. "I think it helps to have a teammate in the Chase. It helps to have teammates outside of it, too, though. Matt's a great guy. Matt's helped me out a lot. I can go talk to Robbie [Reiser, crew chief] or Chip [Bolin], his engineer, and I feel pretty comfortable with those guys, and if we can keep that going back and forth to benefit one another, it's great."
WHY IS THE PIT ROAD HERE AT DOVER CONSIDERED TO BE SO DIFFICULT TO ENTER? "The speeds are high here at Dover, and the concrete surface, to leave the concrete and come onto the asphalt, which is usually pretty dirty and has a lot of marbles and stuff on it, physically, it's hard to get grip. Mentally, too, to slow down that much coming off such a high banking, it's really easy to over-shoot the pit entrance."
HAVE YOU EVER HAD TROUBLE HERE? "I've been real close here. Everybody has seen the tapes of people wrecking trying to get on pit road, so I always go on a little bit slow."
