ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Best Buy Dodge Charger) - Qualified 9th
"The car has been a little tight most of the day. Hopefully, this will end up somewhere in the top 15. If we can do that, we can call it a successful qualifying effort. I'm proud of my guys. The car looks good. It's a real big weekend for us. It will be very important to get a good starting position for Sunday. We're still rotating some new cars through our place (Gillett Evernham Motorsports). We run a lot better with our new cars. Once we get these new cars in the rotation every single time, we'll be fine. A lot of hard work is going on. We're definitely turning the corner."
JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 40 Target Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 10th
"This is probably the best car I've had in two years. It amazes me how they (the team) have worked with me. They wanted to know what I wanted in a car and I haven't had that in a long time. Steve (Lane, crew chief) and I have worked together before; so we're just been reunited. This is a great day. I appreciate Chip (Ganassi) and Felix (Sabates) giving me the opportunity. I've had a lot of fun today."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 11th
"We were about an eighth-place car it seems like all day. Hopefully, that (qualifying time) will get us a top 10. We'll work on longer runs tomorrow. We just did short-run stuff today. This track and this car usually lend themselves to long runs. That's where you are going to make your money on Sunday."
KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 15th
"The car was really good. The front end was positive. It's going to be a good racecar I can tell that. We slid a little bit too much. I couldn't floor it quite as hard as I would like to. We just kind of slid around a little too much, but it felt pretty good."
SAM HORNISH JR. (No. 77 Penske Truck Rental Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 16th
"Our car was really good in practice. I got down into turn one there in qualifying and got way loose. I'm just happy that we had a car to go and do the second lap. The car is pretty good. The track loosened up a little bit from practice, so that got us off a little from where we thought we were going to be, but I'm really happy with the guys on the Penske Truck Rental Crew. They gave me a good car. The thing that I have to learn as we go along is how much the car changes at these different tracks depending on how much sun is on them."
BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 19th
"We about run the same thing that we did in practice. We're just right here at the same speed and we didn't really get much more out of it didn't seem like. We were really bad in practice, so we've got to fix it."
PATRICK CARPENTIER (No. 10 Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Dodge Charger) - Qualified 36th
"I watched Jeff Gordon and a couple other guys and I thought that was the way that I needed to go into the corner, but the guys did a good job for me for qualifying. I don't know, just 19 laps on that track are hard to go qualifying. I just gave it everything I had and I thought I was going to hit the wall on the exit of turn four, but we kept it up. We're in the race, so we're running on Sunday. I'm very happy to have Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper in the race, so that's great."
DO YOU REALLY LEARN THAT MUCH FROM WATCHING OTHER DRIVERS? "Yeah, I had to learn something, because during practice I was slowing myself down way too much. I just need to pick it up somewhere. I knew it had to be a little bit better, but I knew we had to pick it up a little too. We usually come alive together and we did today in qualifying. It was a lot better. I rolled it better into the corner and made some speed, but I gave it everything I had, so I'm pretty happy. That's great."
REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger) - Qualified on owner points
"We were pretty good in practice, but the Target Dodge had a left front tire go down during our qualifying lap. It's unfortunate because the crew put in a lot of work to get this car to where it was for qualifying. I thought we had a pretty good car, but now we will just have to race hard and work our way through the field on Sunday."
CHAD MCCUMBEE (No. 45 Petty Driving Experience Dodge Charger) DNQ
"The car was super tight. I though we had made it better. I'm not sure what we missed. The guys put forth a great effort. All the right pieces are there. They're working so hard and getting so close. It doesn't take much in this series. That's not nearly what we needed to run."
