Carl Edwards on racing at Dover International Speedway:
"Dover is one of my favorite tracks; it is a lot like Darlington. Dover and Darlington are fun race tracks because they're so fast and the driver can make a big difference. At Dover when you drive off into turn one, it's a lot like driving off into turn one at Darlington -- the car kind of lifts off a little bit and then it settles and the sensation of speed is really high.
"Dover is pretty much a one-groove track so you need to handle well through the center of the corners in order to keep your position. We won this race in 2007, and we had two strong races there in 2008. My Aflac team is working hard and making some improvements. Hopefully we'll get our Aflac Fusion dialed in and handling well and get a good finish this weekend."
Crew chief Bob Osborne on racing at Dover International Speedway:
"Dover is a tough track. It's really unique and different from any other track that we go to. You have to have a brave driver to be fast at Dover. I think it's probably one of the more physically demanding tracks on a driver, but Carl and the Aflac team are up to the challenge. In recent years the 99 program has had some success at Dover. I am hoping to continue with that success. This is a tough track to get around which makes my job challenging -- hopefully, I'll be up for the challenge."
* Carl Edwards enters Dover 11th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings, 291 markers behind point leader Jeff Gordon. In 12 starts this season, Edwards has accumulated two top-five and five top-10 finishes.
* FOR THE RECORD...Edwards will make his 10th Cup start at Dover International Speedway this weekend. In his previous starts, Edwards has one win, five top-five, and six top-10 finishes.
* LAPS... Edwards has led 285 laps at the one-mile Delaware track. He has only led more laps at two other tracks on the NASCAR circuit -- Texas (499) and Atlanta (299).
* ON THE TRACK...The Aflac team will be bringing chassis RK-596 to the Monster Mile. Edwards raced this chassis most recently at Bristol in March of this year. He started that race 38th and finished 15th. Edwards most notably raced RK-596 at Bristol in August of 2008. He started that race from the pole, led 190 laps and drove to victory lane for his second win at Bristol.
