CLINT BOWYER, NO. 07 JACK DANIEL'S IMPALA SS, MET WITH MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA TO DISCUSS RACING AT DOVER AND POCONO:
ON WEEKEND SO FAR: "Short weekend so far, bad deal last night in the truck race. I am really looking getting the Cup car tuned in today in practice and having a good race.
"We are way down on grip in these new cars compared to the old ones. I have always run this track right around the bottom and flat out be good down there, you know. Now you go off in your corner and the car just slides up and you kind of diamond the race track."
ON EXPECTATIONS FOR RACE: "The biggest thing is the rubber that is on the track. The track isn't black like it usually is. That is very unique. Everybody has been wondering about that. Tire wear hasn't been the best. Unfortunately, I was watching the truck race and saw that the tire wear was pretty critical. I think it is the hard tire. They aren't putting any rubber down and nothing coming off of it."
ON POCONO: "It is just a really unique race track. There are a couple of places on the track where you can make some pretty costly mistakes. But we have run well there, we have run up front every time we have been there. We didn't qualify the best the first time, we be raced well. I don't see any reason why we won't go back there and run well.
"You have an open frame of mind because it is so different there. You have to hit your marks because it is pretty easy to drive there, get to running around and loose your focus. Next thing you know your crew chief calling your lap times, oh man, I have fallen off two tenths, I need to pick it up. You are so far by yourself at that place. You have one mile of straight away and sometimes you can't see anyone out of your windshield or out of your mirror."
