FONTANA, Calif. (April 24, 2000) Bessey Motorsports has announced that Dick Trickle will drive the No. 60 Power Team Chevrolet in Sunday's NAPA Auto Parts 500 at California Speedway. The No. 60 team's regular driver, Geoffrey Bodine, is continuing his recovery from injuries sustained in a February NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series wreck.

Bodine is scheduled to return to the Power Team Chevrolet the following weekend at Richmond. The team tested at the .75-mile track on Wednesday and Thursday with positive results, but decided that it would be best to give Bodine one more week to recover from his injuries.

Bodine tested two Chevrolet Monte Carlos at Richmond and logged competitive lap times in both cars. Qualifying and race set-ups for the event were tested in preparation for the upcoming Pontiac Excitement 400. The Bessey Motorsports team was very pleased with the performance results from the two-day session and looks forward to a successful return by its driver.

"He hasn't lost much at all," crew chief Jim Long said after the test. "It's like he's never been gone from the car. He'll probably be sore after this test and a Richmond return for Geoffrey is a good possibility."

California will mark the third event for Trickle as the relief driver of the Power Team Chevrolet. He also drove for the team at Texas and Talladega.
