Matt Kenseth's thoughts on going back to Darlington:

How do you think the DEWALT team will perform in Darlington?
"Taking the same car back we can hopefully make it run as well as it did last time. We hope to get a better qualifying spot this time around so it won't take so long to get up front."

What is so tough about Darlington?
"The groove is so narrow that you literally run right up against the wall. The pavement is really worn out, so the tires drop off fast. You start off fast then you are a second or two seconds slower by the end of the run. Because we run so close to the wall is why many cars get the famous 'Darlington Stripe' on the side. "

With twelve races left this year, what are your goals?
"We still want to win races and get as high up in the point standings as we can. We've really struggled this year, and I hope to end the year on a winning note."

Crew Chief Robbie Reiser's thoughts on Darlington:
"We are taking back car No. 5 to Darlington. That is the same car we ran there in the spring. It's a good car, and Matt was doing pretty well there last time until we had some body damage halfway through the race that put us a lap down."

Spotter Mike Calinoff's thoughts on Darlington:
"Darlington is a relatively easy track to spot. The spotters perch is up high and you've got a great view of the track. I am looking forward to Darlington because it's one of Matt's favorites and he runs well there."

Spotter turns educator...
Spotter Mike Calinoff has recently joined forces with 5 On 5 Off Race Team Performance facility located in Mooresville, NC. Calinoff, who serves as the spotter for Matt Kenseth recently announced the development of a seminar he will host, entitled "Get Into Racing".

The seminar summarizes necessary steps to embark on a career in professional motorsports and will debut on October 1st and 2nd from 7:00-10:00pm in Mooresville, NC. For further information call (704) 799-3870 or 1-866-273-8421.

Clark Construction Logo on No. 17 car...
A Clark Construction decal will be featured on the quarter panel of the No. 17 car for the Darlington Mountain Dew Southern 500. Clark is a nationwide construction company based in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area, famous for construction of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and Fed Ex Field, home of the Washington Redskins. The decal is in lieu of a recent tool conversion. Clark Construction recently converted their use of reciprocating saws, circular saws, rotary hammers, grinders, and cordless equipment from other manufacturers to the DEWALT brand.

"Its our goal to utilize our racing program to turn the Clark Construction job site to yellow and black," commented Jon Howland, Motorsports Manager for DEWALT Power Tools. "This is one of the many end users who will be featured on our car from now on."

Scott Boden, a purchaser for Clark, will also serve as the honorary pit crew member for the weekend. "We're really excited about the presence on the No. 17 DEWALT car this weekend," said Boden. "Its going to take our relationship between DEWALT and Clark to the next level."

New Product Car...
DEWALT is proud of their New Products Paint Scheme. The paint scheme will be featured on the track through the Dover race. The design is an integration of the new product line and the paint schemes submitted through the DEWALT 2002 Paint Scheme contest. The winners were Robert Williams Lutherville, MD and Brian Grossman of Cincinnati, OH.

Today the DEWALT Power Tools line consists of over 200 electric power tools and over 800 accessories including: drills and hammer drills; screwdrivers; circular, chop, miter, table, reciprocating, and jig saws; planers; impact wrenches; die, angle, and bench grinders; shears; nibblers; sanders; laminate trimmers; routers, and plate joiners. This year will be an exciting time for DEWALT as it offers its largest product launch ever - even greater than the initial product line introduction.
