Joe Nemechek, No. 01 U.S. Army Chevrolet

Note: As a result of yesterday's multi-car accident, Nemechek woke up this morning with a sore neck and sore ribs.

How do you feel?

"I'm a little sore today -- I took a hard hit yesterday. I have to say my backup car is driving good so that's the main thing. We're ready for the Daytona 500."

How Close is the backup car to the car you ran yesterday?

"It's the same car we ran in the Bud Shootout. On paper it's aerodynamically a better racecar -- it makes more downforce, has less drag and does all of the good things. The other car was my favorite piece but it's totaled so this one has to be my favorite piece from now on. The Army Chevy drove good today -- it's been a little snug but they brought it back to the shop (Concord, N.C.) after the Shootout and worked on it and got it a little more free. It feels better than it did Saturday night. The cool thing about our team is that we have eight speedway cars and they are all within a tenth of each other. We're able to reproduce the good stuff and I have all of the confidence in the world that this car will get me to the finish line."
