MARK MARTIN - No. 6 Oscar Mayer/Kraft Taurus (Finished 4th) "We had a really fast race car, probably the best I've had at Daytona. The Ford power is incredible. I'm real disappointed so far in our 500 car. That's a contender (his shootout car).

"We had a really fast race car, probably the best I've had at Daytona. The Ford power is incredible. I'm real disappointed so far in our 500 car. That's a contender (his shootout car). I like that car."
WHAT HAPPENED DOWN THE STRETCH TO YOU? "We were just trying. I made one move that was boneheaded and then I got it back by making another move that was risky. There were a lot of risky moves made out there. I had a great run on Junior and could have followed him in for third, but third ain't nothing in this race. We got a fender on the outside of him, but everybody wanted to line up and get a better finish so it would look better on paper, but it was a great run for the Kraft car and the Kraft team. This is a great race car and a great power plant. I can do something with that. I was able to come back in the last couple of laps from getting shuffled back. I hit it wrong once and hit it right once and got back up there. We had a run, but I just would have liked to have continued it. One pusher would have put us side by side. The biggest thing was I helped Dale win the race. There's no doubt about it. I could have switched lanes, but I pushed the 8 car so that he could push him into the lead. Then I didn't follow the 8 car to try to push him by and I hope some day he would return that kind of favor. I knew that with the position I was in I couldn't win, so I'm happy for Jarrett."
DALE JARRETT - No. 88 UPS Taurus (Finished 1st)
"I knew if I could get out in clean air that nobody could pass it, so I just needed to get there. Mike (Ford) made some great adjustments on the car there at the end and I just knew I had to run wide open wherever that was and the outside lane was where I could run wide open. I couldn't have done it without Dale, Jr. beating the back bumper off of this thing, but that's what I was needing was that push to go."
WHAT ABOUT THE PASS? "I saw as we took off I was able to get by a few cars and I saw the outside line was really going. Once Rusty pulled down that left me out there, but I knew I had Junior behind me and I knew he was wanting to go to the front so he wasn't gonna leave me. He didn't really have anywhere to go, so I just decided to stay there. I knew I could run wide open. The places that Junior was hitting me were the right places to really give me that push. The young man can drive and, again, he had a fast car but we had a fast car too. It's fun to get back to Victory Lane."
DOES THIS PROVE YOU GUYS ARE BACK? "I think this says a lot about what Mike Ford and Eddie D'Hondt have come in and done with this race team. They've worked really hard with these race cars and I'm not saying that we're totally back, but we're gonna be a lot more competitive. The last two times we've won this Bud Shootout we went on to have a pretty good 500 after that."
HOW IS THE 500 CAR? "That's a good car too. It ran fast today in practice, so we'll see if we can get the pole or close to it. I know my teammate is gonna be the guy to beat tomorrow for that, but I'm looking forward to getting to race next Sunday for the Daytona 500, which is obviously our biggest race. But this is a great win for this race team to help us get a little bit of confidence instilled back in us."
ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus (Finished 12th)
"We had a really fast race car. It wouldn't go on restarts, but the longer it ran the better it got. We took the lead a little bit there and then we started to feel a little bit of a vibration. Something happened to the right front tire. I'm not sure what it was, but we're gonna get Goodyear to look at it and check it out. We weren't bad though. We went up there and took the lead all by ourselves and then we just got caught in traffic. The 10 car ran me right on the apron and I had to pretty much stop and everybody passed us. That kind of killed our run, but I'm sure happy for everybody in the Yates organization. We had a couple of strong cars. DJ is in Victory Lane and we've got two strong cars for tomorrow, so all in all it was a good day."
HOW BIG OF A LIFT IS THIS FOR RYR? "It's a big lift for everybody in the shop. So much work has gone into both of these cars and these teams this winter. We've had some great tests at Daytona and Las Vegas and we definitely had a car good enough to win tonight, but it was just the wrong set of circumstances. That's OK because we'll come back and rebound tomorrow with a good qualifying effort. We learned enough tonight to help us for the 500."
DID YOU LEARN ABOUT THE NEW TIRE? "Yeah, we learned kind of what this tire is gonna do after a few laps and that's the most important thing, so we'll go to work this week come Tuesday and Wednesday and get this thing ready in race trim. We know we're gonna be good in qualifying, we just have to get it to race good and we learned enough tonight to help us. That was the main thing and I'm looking forward to it."
