BRIAN VICKERS, NO. 25 GMAC CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS
Quotes following Vickers' blown engine during practice for the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway. Vickers was in a large pack of cars running two abreast when the engine expired.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED TO THE ENGINE, DID YOU HAVE ANY WARNING SOMETHING WAS AMISS? "It wasn't much fun. We had no warning. The tachometer and all the gauges were fine and the oil and water temps were good. It just let go. We don't know yet as we haven't examined the motor closely, I am sure we will figure it out. It is just one of those things, sometimes motors just blow up, there are a lot of moving parts in there."

YOU WERE RUNNING RIGHT IN FRONT OF DALE EARNHARDT, JR WHEN IT LET GO, DID YOU SPEAK WITH HIM? "I did talk to Junior, he said there was no puff of smoke or oil came out before it let go. He saw no signs of it before it happened. I checked with him on that and said I was sorry about that because we were in a pretty tight pack there."

WILL YOU BE ABLE TO GET SOME PRACTICE IN YET TODAY? "We plan too. We are working to get our GMAC Chevy back out for the second practice session tonight. These guys brought me a really good car down here and I am looking forward to going out to run the Bud Shootout."

YOU WERE RUNNING IN A PACK WITH A LOT OF GOOD CARS, HOW WAS THE CAR? IS THERE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE HANDLING OF THE '06 MONTE CARLO SS AND THE '05 MONTE CARLO? "It felt fine. It was handling pretty good, just a little tight off of turn four. It was handling really well and the motor was running good. I think this Monte Carlo SS has good numbers, but we were only out there for a few laps so it is hard for me to say how much better this car is. I didn't test Daytona but from our test in Las Vegas, we saw some big improvements in aero with the new car. I think that is where you are going to see most of the benefit is at the downforce tracks. It may help us a bunch here at Daytona too but I haven't had enough time out there to know for sure what the improvements will be."
