Andy Petree Racing is fielding a second car in the "Pepsi 400," the No. 55 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet driven by Hut Stricklin. Oakwood Homes, based in Greensboro, N.C., also sponsors the No. 15 Andy Petree Racing Chevrolet driven by Ken Schrader in a limited NASCAR Busch Series schedule.

Andy Petree Racing also owns the No. 33 Chevrolet driven by Ken Schrader on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Petree will have a second full-time Winston Cup team in operation for the 1999 season with driver Kenny Wallace.

"NASCAR Winston Cup racing is moving into a new era and multi-car teams seem to benefit other programs," said Petree. "I have felt for a while that this is the direction I want Andy Petree Racing to go. Teammates can help each other out, especially at tracks like Daytona, and it seems most of the cars running in the top 10 are from multi-car teams. The experience and knowledge we are gaining with the Busch Series team is helping us work towards having a second full-time car in NASCAR Winston Cup competition in 1999."

Hut Stricklin tested the No. 55 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway. It clocked some of the best speeds of the session.

"We learned a lot during both of the test sessions and are going to take the most useful information from both and put together the very best package," said Stricklin. "I am real excited about the opportunity with Andy Petree Racing. It's going to feel good to finally go to Daytona knowing that I have a teammate to draft with and work with all day."

Stricklin has had some successful runs at Daytona International Speedway including a fourth- place finish in the 1993 Daytona 500 which earned him his biggest career payday of $95,950.

Jim Elledge will serve as crew chief and Jeff Swann will serve as car chief for the No. 55 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet.
