Burton looks for success at Daytona.
"It will be exciting to return to Daytona after our win in the Daytona 500,
at the same time it's a place that is very unpredictable. You can have one
of the best cars and still not come home with a good finish. That is what
makes Daytona unique. We had one of the best cars in last year's Daytona
500, but were eliminated by a big wreck. This year, we had a good car, but
there were others that were better and we were able to win."

BURTON ON RETURNING TO DAYTONA AFTER WINNING THE DAYTONA 500...
"It will be exciting for us to get back to Daytona. We're going to go back to Daytona USA and do an appearance for NASCAR, so that will be fun to see some of the fans. Our car is still on display there and that will be very gratifying to see. We'll get to sign some autographs for the fans and then get back to what we're there to do and that is to win."
BURTON ON THE PEPSI 400...
"Racing during the daytime is a little bit different than running there at night. The handling is a little more critical during the day, but last year we actually noticed a few handling problems during the night race. We were a little bit tight. It's a handling track at Daytona; at the same time it's a place where you can tell right away if you have the right motor combination where you are picking up good cowell pressure. You really have to have the whole package. The driver is important, but the racecar is awful important as well.
"I don't notice the difference between the 500 mile race and the 400 mile race. It seems that the restrictor-plate races have a knack of having late-race cautions. Maybe that is because people are getting impatient because the end is near, but it is asking for trouble. It helped us get the win in the 500 and it actually helped us in the July race last year, we were able to get a hole in the last few laps and finish fourth.
Ward Burton will appear at Daytona USA on Friday, July 6 at 1:00PM. He will participate in the unveiling of the Daytona 500 Champion painting by Gary Hill. He will then join his brother, Jeff, in a fan forum for fans.
