-- Chevrolet has won nine of the last 15 NASCAR Winston Cup races at Daytona, more than any other manufacturer.

-- Kevin Harvick's (No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevy Monte Carlo) pole position at this event gives Chevrolet six for the season, tying Chevy with Ford.

-- Since 1984 (when Pepsi began to sponsor this event) Chevrolet has qualified on the pole 11 times, including this weekend more than any other manufacturer.

-- Chevrolet has won nine Pepsi 400s since 1984, more than any other manufacturer.

-- Jeff Gordon, in the No. 24 DuPont Chevy Monte Carlo, won the 1998 Pepsi 400 and the 1999 Daytona 500. He and Dale Jarrett ('99 Pepsi 400 and '00 Daytona 500) are the only back-to-back victors at Daytona since Bobby Allison won the 1987 Firecracker 400 and the 1988 Daytona 500.

-- Jeff Gordon has been running at the finish in 47 consecutive races. His last DNF came at Darlington in March 2001.

-- Gordon leads the stats with most wins at restrictor-plate races: 6 of 38.

-- Dale Earnhardt, Jr., in the No. 8 Budweiser Chevy Monte Carlo, is the defending champion of the Pepsi 400.

-- Dale Jr. is the only active driver with five or more starts at Daytona that has not posted a DNF here.

-- Dale Jr. finished second and first in the two Daytona races in 2001, his only finishes better than 13th in his five races at Daytona.

-- Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) has won four of the last six restrictor-plate races. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won three of those six races, including the Pepsi 400 last July. Michael Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have finished first or second in three of the last six restrictor-plate races including both Daytona races in 2001 and the most recent restrictor-plate race at Talladega in April.

-- Dale Jr. has assumed the restrictor-plate crown, winning three of the five restrictor-plate races since his father's death. Dale Jr. led 229 of the 736 restrictor-plate laps races in 2001 and was the only driver to score four restrictor-plate top-10s in 2001. In 2002, he has led 133 of 188 laps en route to victory in Talladega.

-- Polesitter Kevin Harvick, in the No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevy Monte Carlo, has a 6.0 average start in his two races at Daytona.
