DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., (June 27, 2002) -- NASCAR Winston Cup Series teams have their paint brushes ready for next weekend's 44th annual Pepsi 400 on July 6 at Daytona International Speedway. Guests at the Speedway will find many of the 43 cars in the field for the Pepsi 400 sporting special paint schemes.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. won last year's Pepsi 400 with a special paint scheme promoting Major League Baseball's All-Star Game. He'll defend his Pepsi 400 title this year with another All-Star Game paint job on his No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet that will feature baseball bats, baseballs and some white baseball stitching.

Two-time Pepsi 400 champion and Winston No Bull 5 contender Jeff Gordon will run a patriotic Pepsi scheme featuring fireworks, stars and stripes on his No. 24 Chevrolet. Michael Waltrip, the 2001 Daytona 500 winner, and Ken Schrader will also be showing off patriotic paint jobs on their machines.

Kyle Petty will have aliens on his No. 45 Sprint Dodge during the mid-summer classic. Petty will sport a "Men In Black II" paint scheme to promote the release of the motion picture starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

Rusty Wallace, who is still seeking his first points victory at Daytona, will have his Harley-Davidson scheme with flames on his No. 2 Miller Lite Ford.

Fans can see all the special paint schemes by purchasing tickets for the July 3-6 Pepsi 400 weekend, which includes the 44th annual Pepsi 400 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race on July 6 and the inaugural STACKER 2/GNC Live Well 250 NASCAR Busch Series on July 5. Tickets are available online at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com or by calling the Speedway ticket office at (386) 253-7223.
