RIGGS HOLDS HIGH HOPES FOR DAYTONA
Aims to Take Herbie to Victory Lane
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 28, 2005)-- After posting a career-high fourth-place finish in the Daytona 500, Scott Riggs has high expectations for the Valvoline race team as here turns to Daytona International Speedway in a specially designed No. 10 Valvoline/Herbie: Fully Loaded Chevrolet.
"I've been looking forward to this weekend for a while," said Riggs. "Going into a race confident that you'll run well is a good feeling. I think we've proven to ourselves and all of the other teams that we'll be a force to reckon with at these superspeedways."
The No. 10 Chevrolet will feature a new, eye-catching paint scheme to promote Walt Disney Pictures' irrepressible "Herbie the Love Bug" and the feature film, Herbie: Fully Loaded at this weekend's Pepsi 400.
"I like the idea of racing with Herbie at Daytona," said Riggs. "Herbie has a winning personality and he can't be intimidated on or off the track. I like to think this Valvoline team's personality is just like that."
"After such a strong showing in February, and solid runs at other superspeedway races, we have every reason to go into this weekend feeling upbeat."
Riggs qualified 12th and crossed the finish line fourth in this year's Daytona 500. He started the April Talladega race fourth and was running sixth when he was collected in a 25-car wreck.
"I have all of the confidence the Valvoline team will have a solid run this weekend," continued Riggs. "We had a good weekend in Sonoma so everyone's pumped about heading to a place we're pretty sure we can be successful. To qualify up front and finish up front--that's the plan. Maybe we can take this Herbie Chevrolet to Victory Lane."
The No. 10 Valvoline/Herbie: Fully Loaded Chevrolet will also appear this fall during the Nextel Cup race Nov. 13 at Phoenix International Raceway.
In addition to being a Disney promotional partner with Herbie: Fully Loaded, Valvoline is the official motor oil at Daytona International Speedway.
