Daytona International Speedway redirects parking for Pepsi 400 heavy rain causes closure of south parking lot.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 5, 2002) * Due to the heavy rains that have continued in the Daytona Beach area, Daytona International Speedway's south lot at the corner of Williamson Blvd and Bellevue Extension will be closed on Saturday. Guests attending the Pepsi 400 will be redirected to the Daytona Beach Community College parking lot or the Speedway's north lot at Bill France Blvd and Clyde Morris Blvd for free parking and shuttle.

Speedway officials made the determination today, after last night's storm activity, that the south lot, known as lot 10, will be too wet to safely accommodate guests.

The DBCC lot and Lot 7 at Bill France Blvd and Clyde Morris Blvd both provide free parking and shuttle and open Saturday at 8 a.m. Guests from the lots will be shuttled to an area where they can then use the city's Dale Earnhardt pedestrian bridge.

Guests with Superstretch tickets can ride shuttles once on Speedway property to their grandstand area. The Pepsi 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race gets underway at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. For more information, please call Daytona International Speedway's information line at (386) 947-6888.
