Daytona International Speedway News and Notes
* Daytona's Camry...The 360 OTC Racing team will utilize chassis No. 93 this weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla. This car has been run during both previous weekends of restrictor plate racing this season and ran strong with Mike Skinner behind the wheel during the Gatorade Duel in February before engine problems sidelined the team early in the race.
* What Happened last week...The 360 OTC Racing team qualified for its seventh race of the season last weekend at Loudoun and took the green flag in the 29th spot. Jeremy Mayfield drove the car to a 40th-place finish after problems with the front splitter forced the team to the garage for repairs midway through the event.
* Mayfield's Career Stats...Mayfield hopes to make his 410th career NASCAR Nextel Cup Series start when he takes the green flag for the event Saturday evening. Mayfield made his first career Cup Series start in October 1993 at Lowe's Motor Speedway and finished 30th (qualified 40th) in his first Cup Series start at Daytona in 1994.
* Mayfield in Daytona...Mayfield has made 26 starts on the 2.5-mile superspeedway during his Cup Series career and has started inside the top 20 on eight occasions. He has also earned six top-10 finishes at the Florida track. The No. 36 team's best finish of the season came during the restrictor plate race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in April.
Jeremy Mayfield on DIS..."We're looking forward to this weekend because we probably ran the best we've run all year at the restrictor plate race in Talladega. I don't know why this 360 OTC Racing team has struggled as much as it has this year, but I'll tell you what, these are some of the hardest working guys I've ever worked with. [Crew chief David] Hyder is right there with them every week trying to make these Toyota Camrys go as fast as they can and handle as well as possible. Naturally, our first order of business this weekend is to make the race, and the fact that this is an impound race will make things even more challenging than usual, but we'll just put forth our best effort and go from there."
