NOTE: With 14 of 53 cars left to qualify, rains came and washed out NASCAR Qualifying. Cars will line up for tonight's Pepsi 400 Cup race on points.
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger)
"It was OK, I guess. I don't know. It was wide open and what the car will give you is what the car will give you. It doesn't really matter where you start here. I think we've got a pretty good car. We'll see. (The driver) will make a bit of a difference in the race, not in qualifying. It's a lot slicker right now (than in February), but it's the same for everybody."
SCOTT RIGGS (No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger)
"It was good for us. We ran about what I thought we were going to run. We ran a 49 flat yesterday and we hoped we had a tenth left. That's exactly what we ran -- a 48.90. Other than that we did all we could do with what we had. If it doesn't get us in we'll go to Chicago and do it again. We brought all we had to the table and did our best. Hats off to the guys. It's been a tough couple of weeks. We all have a lot of faith in each other and keep plugging along."
JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 45 Tire Kingdom Dodge Charger)
"We're in race trim. I think the car would be really fast in qualifying trim. Yesterday we unloaded in race trim and we were out in front of the pack and we were really fast then. Since then we slowed it down even more to make it turn better, just like most of the guys do. I think we've done a lot to it. I'm really happy with the speed in the car. We've just got to handle all night. That's the main thing. It's not like we're going to be stuck back there without some good drafters. There will be some good guys back there who know how to win. If we are handling good and hang with them it's going to be a great day. Just like Dale Jr. Why did he always run good down here? Because everybody hung with him. That's what you've got to do. You find somebody you know that can race up there and you race with 'em. I just hope it's Bobby Labonte. Labontes have a way of finishing up front at restrictor plate races."
REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger)
"I just held the wheel. We've our race setup in. I just hope it runs good in the race. It really wasn't set up to qualify. Everybody is set up for race setup, so we're pretty happy with where it ran. It's be slick, but if your car is good it's fun to run. If it's not, it's a handful. I think we'll be pretty good."
KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)
"I'm not much of a weather man, but maybe there was dense air with the cooler air. For us, we're really worried about our race car and wherever we ended up was where we were going to go. We're more worried about racing than qualifying, and when you're worried about racing here you've got to have your car handling right and you've got to build downforce into it. You don't get through the air as quick as you want by yourself. But when you're in the pack and the air doesn't attach to your car, you have more downforce in it so you can handle in the corners better. That's what we're shooting for with the Miller Lite Dodge. We're shooting for a win tomorrow night. It seemed really good in practice. It's the same car we had here in February when Tony and I had the fastest cars. Hopefully we've got a shot again."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 alltel Dodge Charger)
"We didn't bring the car here to qualify. We brought it here to race, and that's what we worked on all day yesterday. What we got qualifying is what we got qualifying. This is the same car we had here in February. We put more downforce in it for grip so we can have the fastest car at the end of the run. I think it'll get single filed out. As it gets closer to night everybody is going to start handling better. It'll take more time for handling to go south on us."
