The big wreck, famous at Daytona International Speedway, came on lap 70 in this year's Daytona 500. Johnny Sauter chased his No. 30 RCR Chevy up the banking but ran out of room. As a result, Sauter pinched the No. 25 of Brian Vickers, who spun in front of the field.

"The 30 got loose," said Vickers. "And I got pushed up into the 15, and it all just sort of started from there."

The wreck affected the cars of Vickers, Scott Riggs, Terry Labonte, Kevin LePage, Jamie McMurray, Michael Waltrip, Sterling Marlin, Ryan Newman and Robby Gordon.

The most violent part of the crash was the contact between Robby Gordon and Michael Waltrip. When Vickers turned, Waltrip was forced down into Gordon. The two took a wild ride through the grass, as the No. 15 of Waltrip slid into the grassy area; a tire flew off, and flipped the 15 several times before coming to rest on its hood.

Waltrip exited the vehicle under his own power, and was checked out at the infield care center and released.

"It was kinda crazy, as a race car driver you understand it's about the safest thing to do, but maybe not the sanest," said Waltrip.

None of the drivers involved in the incident were injured in the crash.
