CHEVY AT DAYTONA - BUD POLE QUALIFYING - DAYTONA 500

Jeff Burton, No. 31 Cingular Wireless Monte Carlo SS, captured his career-first Daytona 500 pole in 2006. On his way to a seventh-place finish in the 2006 season-ending standings, won a total of four poles including the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

Chevrolet has won 16 Daytona 500 poles in the 48 previous races - more than any other manufacturer (Ford 10, Dodge 4)

Chevrolet won the pole for the first Daytona 500 in 1959 - Bob Wellborn

Two Chevy drivers have won the race from the pole: Cale Yarborough in 1984 and Jeff Gordon, No. 24 DuPont Monte Carlo SS in 1999 A total of eight drivers have won the race from the pole.

In 2002, Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe's Monte Carlo SS, became one of only three rookies to win the Bud Pole for the Daytona 500 Mike Skinner won pole in a Chevrolet in 1997 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series rookie year.

Tony Stewart, No. 20 Home Depot Monte Carlo SS sat on outside of front row in his 1999 rookie year, alongside pole sitter and race winner Jeff Gordon.
