ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES:
"It's the great American race. A ton of off-season work and preparation goes into this one race. I want to run well and I think looking back to Talladega last fall Evernham's plate program was very competitive. We had a great run going until we blew a tire, but Kasey did finish second. Daytona will require us to get our cars handling well. I think a good run at Daytona is a great way to kick off the season and really add a boost to team morale. By the time the 500 rolls around I'll have a lot of seat time after racing in the Shootout, running practice and racing in the Duels. We have to work hard during all of those sessions to get the car ready for the Daytona 500. I've had some strong runs in the Daytona 500 and I know we have a good enough team to compete for the win."
On the penalties for three Evernham Team Directors handed out after qualifying for the Duel 150s--
"I just have to lead my team, and get ready for the Daytona 500. This is a negative but we are going to make it a positive. The system that we have in place at Evernham Motorsports of team director, car director and engineer makes it easier to fill the gap, everybody will step up and we should go along as smooth as we can. I am not worried about this at all. We have a lot of depth on our race team and in our whole organization. These guys are ready to step up to the plate and have a strong run for the Daytona 500."
On his run in the Duel 150...
"We are not as comfortable as we want to be, but know what direction we need to go in. We tried some stuff today, just to see if it would work for the 500, and we found out some good things. We learned a lot
today -- some things that helped and some that didn't help. There are two more days of practice left, and we'll keep tuning on it to get ready for Sunday."
*This marks Sadler's first Daytona 500 with the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger of Evernham Motorsports.
*A last lap tangle in the Bud Shootout took away a solid top 10 from the No. 19 and left Sadler and his team to finish 16th.
*Sadler started 10th and finished 21st in the second Duel 150 qualifying race.
