David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion, is tied with Clint Bowyer for 13th-place in the NASCAR Spring Cup point standings and comes into this weekend's Bristol race weekend only 26 points behind Denny Hamlin for the 12th and final position in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Ragan recently spoke about Friday and Saturday night's races at Bristol Motor Speedway.
YOU'VE BEEN COMING TO BRISTOL FOR A LONG TIME AS A FAN AND NOW A DRIVER. HOW MUCH HAS IT CHANGED IN YOUR VIEW? "Bristol is an exciting race track and with the excitement from the fans and from the community, you get that kind of change. Going back to Charlotte and Atlanta Motor Speedway, some of the places that I grew up as a young kid going to, you see new stuff and exciting things and a different atmosphere every time you come to a place like that. Going to Bristol is always one of the most fun weekends. We make a whole weekend out of it watching the Truck race and Nationwide race, and we have a lot of friends and family that come up. When you have racing that exciting it's gonna continue to grow. If the racing is horrible at every other race track, everybody is still gonna be at Bristol."
WE ALWAYS EXPECT FIREWORKS IN THE NIGHT RACE, DON'T WE? "Yeah, and I just want to be a part of them. I feel bad if I just have an easy race and finish 10th. That's a good race, but I want to be up in the battle beating and banging and have some controversy at the end of the race. That's what it's all about. It's fun. That's what the fans love and that's what I loved as a fan watching the sport from years back."
