Evans named to position at Hedrick Motorsports

STATESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 3, 1998) Veteran Winston Cup engine specialist David Evans has been named chief engine builder for Larry Hedrick Motorsports and the No. 41 Kodiak Racing Team. Evans, a native of South Hill, Va., assumes his position immediately and will operate out of the team's state-of-the-art engine facilities department at the team shop in Statesville, N.C. The 36-year-old Evans has a wealth of engine-building knowledge and experience. He was named the McCord Engine Builder of the Year in1988. In addition, Evans has 46 Winston Cup wins to his credit, numerous pole positions and was named the All-Pro Engine Builder in 1988, 1989, 1993 and 1994. His position as chief engine builder at LHMS is a reunion of sorts with the team sponsor Kodiak. Evans worked with Harold Elliott for the old Blue Max Racing Team building engines for Rusty Wallace when he won the 1989 Winston Cup Championship with Kodiak as sponsor. Evans and wife Linda live in Mooresville, N.C., with 18 year-old daughter April and 15-year-old son Brando
