TO: ALL FROM: DAVE MARCIS (HETJ54A) SUBJECT: DAVE MARCIS UPDATE
We are almost near the end of this 14 race stretch. It looks like we will make it through it with some scars but all in all in not too bad of shape. Our car count right now looks like we should be set for the end of the season. The weekend at Dover with all the fights and this weekend with the big cars not qualifying, I think the effects of this stretch is showing its effects. This weekend at Martinsville is one that I was glad just to be in the show. When you have cars like the 22, 11, 12, and 29 going home and not even able to use a provisional is unbelievable. I was running well in practice before qualifying but ran about 1/10th slower in qualifying. It put a lot of pressure on us For second round we took a little bit of a gamble and it paid off. My first lap was about a 20.80 which was going home. The second lap turned out to be a 20.472 which made the show by 15/100's. Everyone right now is struggling to keep things together through the end of the season in terms of sponsorship and having to go home from a race is not a good thing to have happen this close near the end of the year. I really feel sorry for the teams it happened to. This weekend will be the same deal as last weekend. North Wilkes is another short field. As far as the race, we were running pretty well. The car started to lose power and I noticed the alternator was not charging at all. We started putting batteries in on pit stops. We were losing about 3-5 laps per pit stop changing out the batteries. When the car was running it was running well. The chasis did everything I wanted it to do which hasn't happened in a while. I am going to take the same car to Wilkesboro and without any mechanical problems, it should be ok. We are also going to debut our Supertruck this week. I will drive it a Wilkesboro so we will see what happens. I like Wilkesboro a lot as a track and will miss it off of next year's schedule.
