Realtree extends deal with Marcis

COLUMBUS, Ga. (Oct. 27, 1998) Bill Jordan, president of Realtree Outdoor Products, announced an extension of the company's current sponsorship of driver/owner Dave Marcis into the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup Series season.

"I really appreciate Bill Jordan and Realtree sticking with us for a third season," Marcis said. "We didn't meet our expectations this year, but with the addition of some more people to the team, we hope that we can turn things around and be more competitive next year."

Marcis has served as both driver and owner since starting his team in 1968. His first race was the 1968 Daytona 500 and looks with great anticipation to starting his 32nd Daytona 500 in 1999.

"It has been a real pleasure working with Dave," Jordan said. "He's a gem -- a true testament to the dedication that has helped build NASCAR into what it is today. They don't make 'em like Dave anymore."

Jordan paired with Marcis through a mutual friend, Richard Childress, in 1997.

"The relationship has been a successful one," Jordan said. "Richard and I are hunting buddies, and he told me more than once that I needed to get into NASCAR. In 1996, we sponsored a second NASCAR Winston Cup entry for Richard Childress for driver Mike Skinner in five races. That sponsorship was in addition to our associate sponsorship of Childress' Truck Series team. We teamed with Marcis in 1997, and look forward to a third season with him."

Since beginning his career, Marcis has competed in 849 races. His highest finish this season was 12th at Talladega Superspeedway in October. He has five victories to his credit; four superspeedway and three short track wins. His last victory came in 1982.
