Following a week of highs and lows at Daytona International Speedway, the Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) team is ready to take on Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). Dave Blaney will drive the No. 36 Accell Construction Chevrolet at the one-mile track for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Subway Fresh Fit 500 on Sunday, February 27, 2011.
CHASSIS NO. 78 -- TBR ran this chassis during the 2010 NSCS season at Richmond International Raceway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The team built a new body in the off-season for 2011.
LAST RACE RECAP: DAYTONA 500 -- With both Bill Elliott and Michael Waltrip earning transfer spots, the No. 36 TBR Chevrolet qualified on time for the Daytona 500 and started from the 42nd position. Blaney quickly moved his way through the field and led the field from lap 46 to 48. With a record number of cautions at DIS, the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet was on-point to have a solid top-15 finish in the NSCS season-opener. With two laps to go, an incident on the backstretch forced Blaney to the grass. Unfortunately, the impact from the grass severely damaged the front of the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet, relegating the TBR team to a 26th-place finish.
IN THE POINTS -- The 26th-place Daytona 500 finish puts the No. 36 TBR Chevrolet 26th in owner points. With the new rule that a driver can only race for points in one series, Blaney is 24th in driver points.
