MIAMI (Nov. 20, 2000) -- The Nov. 12 Pennzoil 400 presented by Discount Auto Parts at Homestead-Miami Speedway will be one of the final chances fans will have to see three-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Darrell Waltrip go fender-to-fender with the best stock car drivers in the world.

Waltrip, who has 84 Winston Cup victories in over 800 starts, will hang up his helmet a week after Miami in the season finale and move into the broadcasting booth with FOX Sports.

"The closer to the end of the year it gets, the more emotional it gets,'' Waltrip said.

Last year's inaugural Pennzoil 400 wasn't very kind to Waltrip and his No. 66 Big Kmart Ford. He started 42nd and finished 43rd, dropping out after 85 laps with a handling problem. This year, Waltrip would like to see his "Victory Tour" produce a victory at Homestead.

"It'll be only the second time I've raced at Miami,'' Waltrip said. "It probably won't be the most difficult place I'll have to go, but I love to go down there. It's a great part of the country and a descent place to go race. It's a beautiful track and it's laying down there close to Key West. That's the great thing about it.''

Fans still have an opportunity to purchase great seats for for the Nov. 11 Miami 300 and the Nov. 12 Pennzoil 400 by calling (305) 230-RACE, by visiting any Ticketmaster Ticket Center, or by ordering on line at the official web site, www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
