HOW DOES YOUR CAR FEEL HERE? "Biffle came and tested here, so we had a pretty good setup to start with. All of our teams pretty much started the same and all of the cars are pretty quick. It's not that much different. Once you run two or three laps at Darlington it's the same thing, so it's not that big of a deal."
NO EXTRA STRIPES? "Not yet. For me at least, you don't really push the car until it comes time to qualify and it's OK to hit the wall a little bit in qualifying as long as you can get back around."
YOU'VE ANNOUNCED THAT YOU WERE LEAVING A TEAM DURING THE SEASON LIKE JUNIOR DID. HOW DOES THAT CHANGE THINGS WITHIN THE TEAM? "Dale Jr. is pretty unique. He has a good relationship with his team. I noticed the first thing this morning, we're pitted next to them, that they're all laughing. I think they understand his side of it and maybe even some of those guys will end up wherever he goes, but it's stressful either way. It can go really well or it can be disastrous, but I'm guessing for Dale Jr. it's gonna be fine just because of the relationship that he already has on the team."
YOU'RE OFF TO A GOOD START. WHAT'S BEEN THE BIGGEST COMPONENT TO SUCCESS? "Larry Carter did a really good job with the people that he hired and he does a really good job with the day-to-day stuff on the team. We still have bugs to work out. We still have our issues of just making better decisions and how we need to go about our practices, but, for the most part, it's just really good people. Last year was an eye-opener for me because I realized how important the people that are around you are to having fast cars and being successful. I feel blessed to get to have the group of guys I have this year."
WHAT DOES THIS DO FOR YOUR CONFIDENCE? "When your cars run fast you're charged up, but your cars are fast so it's easy. When you get in cars and they drive well, it's more fun and it's easier to adjust on your car and make it faster throughout the race. When you unload the car and it's junk, it's hard to tell them what you need or what we need to do to make the right adjustments."
