Competitor's Accident Costs NAPA Team

Darlington, S.C. (Nov. 15) -- The No. 15 NAPA AUTO PARTS team produced another strong race car for veteran driver Michael Waltrip Sunday, but when the No. 50 car driven by Todd Bodine lost control of his car on lap 143 in front of Waltrip, it sent the NAPA Chevrolet to the garage to replace the radiator, fender braces and left front nose.

The damage to the front of the NAPA car kept the team off the racetrack for 30 laps. They quickly restored the car and beat the hood back into place returning to the track on lap 173 in the 39th position.

Waltrip commended his blue and gold team for their response to the wrecked car. The team gained seven positions by completing the 500-mile race, finishing 33rd.

Waltrip, who now stands 19th in points said, "I am disappointed for the NAPA guys because our finishes the past month have not reflected the teamwork these guys have assembled. It is all part of racing. If Pete (Rondeau, crew chief) and Greg, (Osborne, car chief) and the rest of the team continue to field fast cars, the finishes will come."
