Elliott Sadler Wants a Darlington Win on His Racing Resume
Statistically speaking, Darlington Raceway is where Elliott Sadler has his best on-track record. Ironically, it is known as the toughest track on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series circuit. In 11 starts at the 1.366-mile track, Sadler has picked up one pole position, two top-five and four top-10 finishes. Sadler and the team are eighth in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series point standings with two races remaining in the 2004 season. Prior to the race this weekend, Sadler and the team spent two days at Homestead-Miami Speedway testing in preparation for the season finale.
QUOTING M&M'S® DRIVER ELLIOTT SADLER: "I love Darlington. That track has a ton of history and I look forward to going there every year. Not only is Darlington a very physical race, but it's also a mentally challenging race because the guy who has the best handle on his car and drives the smartest race will be the winner at the end. When I say the car has to handle well, I mean it has to feel and fit like and old comfortable shoe. Darlington is abrasive and hard on tires and that wall can reach out and grab you. The reason Darlington is so tough is because the track itself is real narrow. I really want to win one there because that means I would have beaten the best. To win at Darlington says a lot."
QUOTING M&M'S® CREW CHIEF TODD PARROTT: "We are taking the same car we ran at Dover this fall to Darlington. We'd like to win a Bud Pole before this season is out and its kind of a do-or-die over the next two weeks. We are going to test Homestead-Miami Speedway this week to get ready for the season finale and would love to add one more to the win column this year."
QUOTING M&M'S® SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN: "Darlington is home for me so I want to run well there probably more than any other track where we race. I grew up in Pageland, S.C., which is only 45 minutes away and I went to school in Columbia which is about an hour away. I haven't missed a race at Darlington since I was a kid. Elliott runs well at Darlington and we are taking one of his favorite cars so hopefully we will have a good weekend.
