Jarrett has led a total of 615, with the last race he led in was the Southern 500 in Darlington (led 23 laps).

He still holds the race speed record for this race: 109.047 mph, two hours, 45 minutes, 04 seconds. * Including his two wins, he has collected eight top-five finishes. Out of the last four fall races, Jarrett has finished in the top-five three times. * In the 1998 Exide Batteries 400, Jarrett started seventh and finished 16th.

Jarrett's Reflections On Racing At Richmond: "It's definitely a fun track to race," said Jarrett. "We tend to run well there, but unfortunately this race last year was one of the worst we've had at Richmond since we've had this race team (started seventh, finished 16th). We know what went wrong then and we want to get back to those opportunities of having a chance to win, which we have had a number of times there. It's always a very exciting race. It's definitely a good place for us to try and gain some points back. It's a track where when the car doesn't do what we need it to, then we're able to make changes throughout the night. That's what we did there in May and the car came around at the end and allowed us to get the win."

Talking About The Past Two Weeks: "Well, we've certainly experienced a bit of difficulty, but nothing we consider a setback," Jarrett said. "We knew at the first of the season, if we were going to contend for a championship, then we had to be realistic and positive. The season is so long and various situations pop up. You can't expect a team to go the entire 34-race schedule without experiencing some type of problem. For us, we have to get back in the mental frame of mind of doing the things that got us to the point where we are today. The past two races, it seems that where our problem has started in qualifying. I haven't been doing the job I've needed to do. At Darlington last weekend, I didn't realize what a setback poor qualifying was going to be until the race. I hated it for the guys because we knew we had a car that was really good and I messed up in qualifying."
