Dale Earnhardt Jr. to join Fox Sports 1 as guest driver analyst
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is heading to the Fox NASCAR broadcast booth – for real this time.
On Saturday, Fox Sports announced NASCAR’s most popular driver is scheduled to join the TV booth as a guest driver analyst for Fox Sports 1’s live coverage next Saturday of the Xfinity Series race at Michigan International Speedway.
Earnhardt will team with play-by-play announcer Adam Alexander and analyst Michael Waltrip to offer analysis for the entire race.
Earnhardt will be the eighth Sprint Cup Series driver serve as a guest analyst in the Fox NASCAR booth this season, joining Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer and Danica Patrick.
Last fall, Fox announced an agreement had been reached with Earnhardt to join the Fox Xfinity broadcast booth only to have officials at JR Motorsports issue a statement that no formal agreement was in place.
Earnhardt raised eyebrows last fall when he appeared on the Fox Sports “Jay and Dan Podcast” and expressed interest in working in the TV booth when he was asked about the possibility of serving as a guest analyst like several of his fellow Cup series competitors.
