DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx Freight Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 4th
How was your qualifying lap? "It was a pretty good lap for us. We usually don't qualify that well. I'm pretty happy with it. We're making gains. We haven't qualified in the top-five in a long, long time. It tells us how good are car is. I'm proud of my whole FedEx Freight team. We had some really good adjustments we picked up. We had a good draw. Really, I feel like that was about all we had."
What do expect in Saturday's race? "Looking forward to it. We really run well here at this race track. Our FedEx Freight team is really working at getting us better race cars and this is just one step in the right direction."
KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 M&M's Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 6th
Does qualifying early in the session affect your final starting position? "It was a pretty good lap for our M&M's Toyota. We got an early draw so that's probably going to hurt us a little bit. This is the first time we've qualified at night here since qualifying got rained out last year, so we don't know how much the guys with the late draw will pick up. I have no idea where that will put us so we'll see."
DAVID REUTIMANN, No. 00 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
Starting Position: 9th
How was your qualifying run? "I think we were okay. It's a pretty decent lap. I think we might have got in the race track a little bit with the nose or the splitter there a little bit -- and that hurt us maybe a little bit. I'm not really sure that's what it was, but that's what it felt like. The track has picked up a ton of grip and a ton of speed, so sometimes you try and keep the nose as close as you can. It's one of those deals where sometimes you get too close. And, if it touches the race track it goes up the race track and you lose the front grip, and that's kind of what it felt like it did. All in all a decent lap -- it felt pretty good. Hopefully, we'll have a good car for the race."
What's the key to running well here at Chicagoland? "A lot of guys I saw, and especially our car. was tight from the center off -- especially (turn) two. So, I think mainly rotating under throttle, getting through the center of the corner and when you go back to the gas the car continues to rotate and have good drive off. That's kind of how it is at this place. So, we'll keep working on it and tomorrow we'll get it a little closer to where we need be."
MARCOS AMBROSE, No. 47 Kingsford/Clorox Toyota Camry, JTG-Daugherty Racing
Starting Position: 10th
How was your qualifying lap? "It was really good for us. We're going to get a good starting spot. I finally got a good draw that worked in our favor this weekend. I'm pumped up that our team is getting better and better every week. We seem to be going through a pretty good period right now. The team is giving me what I'm asking, I'm asking for something to make me comfortable and they're giving me that. It's all I can ask for, we're just doing really well right now and I'm pleased for everybody on our team."
DAVE BLANEY, No. 66 Prism Motorsports Toyota Camry, Prism Motorsports
Starting Position: 18th
JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 Home Depot Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 24th
How was your qualifying run? "I underestimated it. I didn't think this place would gain that much grip at night. Went in the corner and as soon as I went into (turn) one -- I went 'I screwed the whole thing up.' Just really underestimated how much grip it had. Screwed up. My second lap was faster -- and it shouldn't be. The first lap I probably should have run a tenth quicker -- at least an .84, or high 70s. Oh well, live and learn."
