GRAND BLANC, Mich., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeff Gordon, the youngest Winston Cup Series champion in NASCAR history and recent winner of the Winston Million, will put the brakes on his busy schedule to participate in an upcoming ACDelco online chat session.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to noon, EDT, Gordon will chat with NASCAR fans from around the world via the GM Service Parts Operation (SPO) ACDelco World Wide Web site (www.acdelco.com). Gordon, who is currently in first place in the 1997 NASCAR Winston Cup point standings, is definitely on the fast track to becoming one of NASCAR's elite drivers. He will chat with fans about every aspect of his racing career, including his Winston Cup title and his race to win it again, his 1994 Busch Clash win and being only the second driver ever to win the Winston Million in its 12-year history. "Off-track demands do not allow me as much time as I would like to devote to my fans," says Gordon. "I think the Internet provides an excellent opportunity for me to connect with them." "Motorsports fans are our customers. That's why it makes sense for ACDelco to be a strong supporter of the sport and an associate sponsor of drivers such as Jeff Gordon," says Ken Robinson, director of advertising and sales promotion. "ACDelco is a full-line, all-make supplier of automotive parts. Sponsoring motorsports is an opportunity for ACDelco to reach new markets and build brand awareness and loyalty," adds Robinson. The online event is the latest in a series of interactive chats hosted by ACDelco. Previous chats have featured racecar drivers Dale Earnhardt and Warren Johnson, auto repair expert Mary Jackson, home remodeling guru Bob Vila, pro fishermen Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker as well as Dave Bowman and Sam Memmolo, auto repair experts and hosts of TNN's Shadetree Mechanic. The chat will take place simultaneously on both the ACDelco and GM Goodwrench Service (www.gmgoodwrench.com) Web sites and can be accessed independently or from the General Motors (NYSE: GM) site located at www.gm.com. GM SPO, headquartered in Grand Blanc, Mich., markets automotive replacement parts and accessories worldwide under the GM and ACDelco brand names.
